You can also get a notification from the app when your drink has reached your desired temperature, although I found this feature wasn’t that reliable. There’s an app, although the on-mug controls are easier to useĪs useful as this is, I found that it was far easier to manually set the temperature using the dial at the bottom. At my local coffee place, the barista had to take out the wire rack in the drip tray to get the Ember to fit. The only minor problem is that standing at 200mm, the Ember Travel Mug is a little on the tall side and won’t fit under all commercial coffee machines easily. Unscrew the lid and you can fill it up with hot drinks, to a maximum capacity of 355ml, which is marked on the inside. In most respects, it acts exactly like any other travel mug, too. Available in black or white with a soft-touch finish on both, this is a stylish and easy-to-grip travel mug. Look at the Ember Travel Mug from the outside and it appears to be a standard travel mug. The Ember Travel Mug looks and acts like a stylish travel mug, but it is a bit tall It works brilliantly, looks stylish and is a great present for anyone serious about their coffee or other hot drinks, but it is quite expensive. It rapidly cools your drink to your desired temperature, then kicks in a battery-powered heater to keep it at the perfect temperature. Fortunately, technology is here to help, in the form of the Ember Travel Mug. So if you have an iPhone, this is probably going to work for you.If you’re trying to be good and stop using throw-away cups, thermal travel cups seem like a good idea, that is until you go to drink an hour later and find that it’s still far too hot to sip. This is true but part of the reason someone would buy this is to be able to change the temperature, depending on what you're drinking. They also mentioned that the mug still works without the app. ![]() There is a pretty good chance that if you're going to spend more than $100 on a mug that has bluetooth, you're probably using a phone from the last couple of years. I don't think they appreciate the audience they're trying to sell to. To be fair, many, many new phones aren't on the list. I reached out to Ember support and they told me that my phone isn't on the supported device list. Sometimes I forget and am forced to hold a hot cup of coffee up so I can hold the button on the bottom of the mug to put it in pairing mode. What about day-to-day use? I have to re-pair the mug to my phone every single morning. ![]() Once the firmware updated, we could connect the mug to our phones. The only way I was able to update the firmware was by connecting them to an iPad. These ship with old firmware and we just couldn't get the firmware to fully download and install on any of our Android devices. ![]() She's running a fully updated Pixel 4 and I have tried using both a Pixel 6 Pro & a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. My partner and I both recently purchased a version 2 mug and are having the same issues with connectivity. With that being said, this isn't made for people that use Android. A Yeti will keep your drink scalding hot for a long time but when you're sitting at your desk and get lost in something, it's nice to go back to your drink and it be how you want it. ![]() I had the version 1 travel mug when it first came out (dead now, non-replaceable battery.) many years ago and I loved the idea of maintaining the temperature of my warm drink. ![]()
